Favorite Asheville venues

There are plenty of things to do and places to go in asheville. These are just the ones I happen to lurk.

Arts

• Asheville Art Museum - A decent collection with some good stuff travelling through from time to time.
• Fine Arts Theater - Best movies in Asheville -- and helpful email alert schedule.
• The Front Gallery - Nice stuff from regional artists, but the hours are limited. Sometimes terrific photography
• The Bender Gallery - The most amazing glass art you'll find. This gallery is exclusively for glass work.
• Ariel Gallery - Solid craft work that is often surprisingly elegant.
• Tucker S. Cook Gallery at UNCA - A great venue for student and faculty work as well as that of visiting artists.
• Malcolm Blowers Gallery at UNCA- Llimited to an area of the library, but each month features stuff from regional artists.

Entertainment

• Sazerac - New nightspot on Broadway featuring an excellent small bites menu.
• Sante - A great wine bar in the Grove Arcade hosted by friendly people who know their wine.
• Tressa's - Terrific live music, diverse crowd, solid drinks and friendly people all around.
• The New French - Nice spot in the center of town, also features a courtyard in the shadow of Diana Worthham Theater.
• The Usual Suspects - Great spot in North Asheville. Interesting food, wine and drink menus, and not pricey.
• The Rocket Club - West Asheville. On Mondays you can see the Asheville Jazz Orchestra.

Dining

• Curas Dom - Really, really great upscale Mexican, located in Woodfin (!).
• The Admiral - A fave. Funky dive bar look with amazing (not bar food) cuisine. Nice porch.
• Vincenzo's - A terrific Itallian spot with music in the first floor bar area many evenings.
• La Caretta - Good solid, inexpensive Mexican and great margaritas.
• Kubo - Great sushi, friendly service, hot saki.
• Heiwa - Great menu and a courtyard for outdoor eating.
• Mayfel's - Bloody Mary bar opens at 1PM on Sundays. crab burger, shrimp po-boy.
• The Mediterranean- Classic diner .. great greek for lunch.
• 5 Points- Classic diner .. sit the counter for breakfast, or grab a booth.
• Marco's Pizza- Real italian style pizza with the best mozzarella around. In north Asheville.
